OVERVIEW

Pacific Global Pvt Ltd, commenced operations in 1981 under the name Rapid Purchasers & Suppliers as a registered Indenting agent at Sri Lanka Railways. In 1986, the business was transformed with the acquisition of a business entity after which it was Re-named Pacific Enterprises. Since 1995, it has been functioning under Pacific Global (Pvt) Ltd.  Its founder, Mr. P.C.D. Samarasekera joined Sri Lanka Railways (SLR) in 1948 and was part of the institution during its "Golden Era" as Ceylon Government Railways, retiring as the deputy head of purchasing.

Over the years, Pacific Global (Pvt) Ltd, has expanded its scope of work from mere indenting to securing contracts through International Tendering and executing foreign funded projects on Turnkey basis.

At present Pacific Global Pvt. Ltd, has world renowned representations from all over the globe and actively generate business from the Signaling, Mechanical, Track & Bridge division and Operations sub-department of Sri Lanka Railway. Additionally, it has had limited engagement with Holcim Lanka Pvt Ltd, Bogala Graphite,Sri Lanka Ports Authority and Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

Alkmarr Railway signalling Australia, formerly the signalling arm of Phillips of Netherlands, International Projects Division of Corus UK, Geismar of France, KLW Wheelco of Switzerland, Hitesi Products Inc. of Canada, Hoppeck Germany, IME Auto Lift of Austria, Wensing B.V. of Netherlands,  Rahee Track Technologies, Escorts Ltd, Banco Ltd, G.B.Springs & Carbonair of India are a few of the prestigious representations held by Pacific Global.

In addition to regular projects & supplies executed by Pacific Global, a land mark project was the Introduction of the first electronically operated Color Light Signaling system with Central Traffic Control and state of the art telecommunication on the Coast line of Sri Lanka Railway. Carried out in two phases and a partial reconstruction phase after the Tsunami of 2004, the project estimate ranged approx: US $ 35 Million. A 35% Grant from the Government of Netherland, and a soft loan for 65% from the ING Bank with a grace period of two years and a repayment period of 10 years was arranged.

All work from pre-feasibility, feasibility, forwarding of a proposal, discussions with overseas missions in Sri Lanka including negotiations with all limbs of the Government mechanism, contract finalization, implementation, successful commissioning of the system and handing over were all efficiently coordinated by Pacific Global gaining vast experience in the process.


Present scope for Pacific Global is relatively high. With the government Infrastructure development drive taking the centre stage in the country's economic transformation plans, work for Pacific Global is envisaged to increase. Under the Governments direction, the Sri Lanka Railways have already embarked on an ambitious Rehabilitation drive. New Carriages, Power coaches are being imported. Tracks are being upgraded.  New Railway lines are being planned. Purchase of additional Locomotives, Carriages, will become relatively increased once the Northern and new lines to the deep south are laid. Signaling systems will need to become expanded and modernized. Maintenance in all areas and requirement of spares are to increase. Public Private Partnerships for Railway investments, development of Railway owned Real estate, domestic component manufacturing under PPP are all lucrative areas where Pacific Global carries the knowledge know how and collaborations to tap in to. Pacific Global will also serve as a launching pad to expand in to similar areas like Ports, Telecommunication, Power & Energy, Transportation, Road development, Construction of buildings and bridges, Education, Agriculture and Fisheries  where lucrative projects can be materialized with the right overseas collaborations, funding and know how.
